PURPOSE:
The HENRY H. VILLARD RESEARCH
AWARD was established to encourage and recognize outstanding contributions in
economic education research. As a faculty member at City University in New
York, Villard was co-founder and first editor of The Journal for Economic
Education. His contributions to early research in the discipline were
notable and set the tone and pace for later research. The NAEE Research Committee makes a recommendation for the recipient of this award.
CRITERIA:
Recognizing that a cluster of
contributions to published research in a focused way may be equal to that of
one outstanding piece, this award allows a broad application of the following
criteria:
1. Relevant research in economic education with either
a broad or specific intent
2. Research timeliness that may vary depending on whether the research involves
current issues, historical relevance or a cluster of studies.
3. The research design will be judged on the soundness of the study and
measured against generally accepted research designs in economics and
education.
4. Findings, conclusions and presentations of the report will be judged on the
basis of treatment of the data, analysis and presentation of the report(s).
ELIGIBILITY:
1. Individuals currently or previously affiliated with
the National Council\NAEE network, including Council, Center and/or Field
Directors; Presidents and other staff officers; and Certified EconomicsAmerica
trainers and coordinators as well as individuals serving in related capacities.
2. Economic educators who have not been granted this award in the last five
years.
3. Economic educators who are not currently serving as members of the NAEE
Awards Committee or the NAEE Executive Committee.
