PURPOSE:
The JOHN C. SCHRAMM LEADERSHIP
AWARD is designed to recognize individuals who are, or have been, affiliated
with the CEE/NAEE network, and whose leadership has had an extraordinary,
positive impact at both the state and national levels. As director of the
Kazanjian Foundation and the Kazanjian Awards Program (later sponsored by the
International Paper Foundation), Schramm provided national leadership in
economic education that serves as a model for the network.
CRITERIA:
Economic educators exhibit
leadership in a variety of ways because of the diversity of responsibilities
and employment circumstances. The following criteria suggest leadership
characteristics that should be demonstrated in one or more of these situations and
circumstances; however, the list is not exhaustive. Furthermore, it is not
assumed that every nominee will meet all criteria.
1. Active leadership in economic education at the state
and national level.
2. The efficient use of resources to achieve sound educational results.
3. A long-term commitment to quality economic education.
4. Successful involvement in the larger community in expanding the role of
economic education, such as utilizing financial commitments to support
cooperative efforts on a continuing basis, classroom participation and other
economic education activities.
5. Establishing programs which increase both the quality and quantity of
economic education and economic educators.
ELIGIBILITY
1. Individuals currently or previously affiliated with
the National Council\NAEE network, including Council, Center and/or Field
Directors; Presidents and other staff officers; and Certified EconomicsAmerica
trainers and coordinators as well as individuals serving in related capacities.
2. Economic educators who have not been granted this award in the last five
years.
3. Economic educators who are not currently serving as members of the NAEE
Awards Committee or the NAEE Executive Committee.
